What is light design? How did people use to work with light in the past? Who is a light designer today and what exacly does the light designer do and what are the tools used?
A short workshop with one of the best Czech light design practitioners who participates in designing large ballet and opera productions as well as small-scale contemporary dance shows.

This workshop is suited for non-professionals interested in light art (for theatre, opera and dance, in particular) as well as for stage design, architecture and photography students and students of other disciplines using light “shaping”. However, no previous knowledge in these fields is necessary.

About the Tutor:
No higher education. Original occupation – workman. He has been shaping and colouring cone-shaped beams since 1999. Currently a light designer and co-owner of a trading company. He teaches light design at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Peforming Arts in Prague. He gained rich experience in this field in the early 2000s when he worked together with choreographer Jan Kodet creating designs for his choreographies like Gates (2000), Dance Macabre (2001), Cala Estreta (2002), Lola and Mr. Talk (2003) and others. He has established a long-term cooperation with choreographer Věrka Ondrašíková, theatre director Jiří Heřman and with Švandovo divadlo theatre in Prague.
